For a change, why not discover the Gordes itinerary by bike? Explore Gordes and the surrounding area with your loved ones and embark on a romantic adventure! Along the way, discover the villages of Beaumettes, Goult, Gordes, Saint-Pantaléon (...) and many more! From 14km to 69km, choose your itinerary to suit your mood and pace. Bring a picnic to enjoy along the way (you'll easily find what you're looking for ;)).
Depending on your itinerary, you may arrive at the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Sénanque. This Cistercian edifice, still inhabited by monks, stands in an exceptional natural environment, creating a tableau vivant that seems to have come straight out of a Provencal postcard! The tranquil setting invites couples to stroll hand in hand. The perfect place for nature and heritage lovers.
We also invite you to contemplate the village of Gordes at the end of the day, from the Rocher Bel air or by taking a moment on the bench at the bottom of the rock, with a view of the village... A lovely suspended moment awaits you.
Between the Durance River and the Luberon, discover Lauris, a small Provencal village on a rocky outcrop. Cavaillon, gateway to the Luberon region, is a dynamic city with a rich cultural heritage. Its historic center, with the Cathédrale Saint-Véran, the Hôtel-Dieu archaeological museum and the Roman Arch, bears witness to its past.
The hill of Saint-Jacques stands at the heart of the town and its historic heritage. Accessible via the 400 steps next to the tourist office, sports enthusiasts will be delighted to reach the summit and be rewarded with a spectacular backdrop for their moment à deux, with a breathtaking view of the town, the Monts de Vaucluse, the Luberon and the Alpilles. It's also the ideal spot for a little hand-in-hand stroll in this idyllic, verdant setting. If you climb to the summit at the end of the day, then let yourself be transported by the golden landscape at sunset... A romantic moment that won't leave your other half indifferent...
Oppède-le-Vieux, a medieval village in the Luberon, is probably one of the most authentic and well-preserved in the region. This timeless village, with its cobbled streets - calades - overlooked by a ruined 13th-century fortress and collegiate church, plunges you into the heart of the Middle Ages.
Start your romantic escapade from the Sainte-Cécile parking lot in Oppède-le-Vieux, with a stroll through the Sainte-Cécile gardens. The gardens invite you to take your time in a green space to discover the flora on a botanical trail lasting around 40 minutes. You'll be amazed by the threshing floor, a haven of peace with a breathtaking view of the old village of Oppède.
Then, of course, explore the village of Oppède-le-Vieux, which will reveal its mysterious past as you go. Climb to the top of the village to discover the Collégiale Notre-Dame Dalidon, the remains of the fortress and its exceptional panorama over the Calavon plain and the Monts de Vaucluse. Mérindol is famous for its ornithological observatory, a special place for birdwatchers and nature lovers. This peaceful village offers a beautiful getaway in the heart of unspoilt countryside, where many species can be observed in a natural, tranquil setting, inviting visitors to discover and respect the local biodiversity.
Stroll along the banks of the Durance, take in the surrounding scenery and contemplate. Visit the ornithological observatory for a moment of peace and quiet. Don't forget your binoculars to observe the wildlife around you!
Do you know Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the Venice of Comtadine? If not, we can only recommend that you discover this charming little Provencal town with its paddlewheels and canals. The birthplace of the poet René Char, it's a real little corner of paradise, criss-crossed by numerous arms of the emerald Sorgue, on which old paddlewheels still turn, witnesses of an industrial past.
For a romantic stroll, we'd like you to discover some fifteen paddlewheels along a route you'll find at the Isle-sur-la-Sorgue tourist office. You'll be able to stroll around this Provencal town at your own pace, discovering the picturesque alleyways, facades and little stores that create its poetic atmosphere.
Fourteenth-century Italian historian, humanist and poet François Pétrarque fell under the spell of the Vaucluse and its spring, which inspired his Canzionere. Les Jardins de Pétrarque at Fontaine-de-Vaucluse are a place where nature and literature meet.
He met Laure de Noves, for whom he had a mad and legendary passion. This impossible love inspired 366 poems, the "Canzonière" where he came to Fontaine de Vaucluse to meditate and write his poems.
Inspired by Petrarch's love for Laure, these gardens evoke the beauty and melancholy of 14th-century sonnets. To stroll through these gardens is to be carried away into a world where words take root and blossom in a thousand colors. The rustle of leaves and the murmur of the Sorgue's mysterious spring add a certain magic to the place, offering you a very romantic setting in the footsteps of Petrarch to enjoy a moment for two.
Le Thor, a charming commune in the Vaucluse region crossed by the Sorgue river, offers an atmosphere of tranquility and serenity. It's an ideal place for a romantic get-together, where nature and history blend harmoniously, especially at the top of the hill of Château de Thouzon. The ruins of an ancient fortified monastery, known as Château de Thouzon, are listed as a Monument Historique. Explore this testimony to the past along the hiking trails that wind their way up to this historic site. Admire the sunset...
