How were the Luberon mountains, the Vaucluse mountains and the Durance and Calavon valleys formed?
These landforms shape the landscape and determine water resources, architecture and the local economy. A journey that begins in the oceans of the Mesozoic era and ends (almost) in the present day.

Georges Truc has devoted forty years of research and teaching at Claude Bernard University Lyon I to the study of the Tertiary period in south-eastern France, with a particular focus on evaporitic deposits (salt, gypsum) and carbonate epigenesis phenomena (encrustations). Retired since 2005 and living in Vaucluse, he continues his work on the Tertiary period, currently focusing on the fascinating world of wine-growing terroirs.

Audience: adults/teenagers I by reservation
