"With the series of paintings Stolen Silver Memories, I embark on a quest around the importance of the image in the era of analogue amateur photography...
My work does not offer a faithful copy, but a free and meaningful interpretation. "
Her colourful, expressive works, deliberately imbued with a certain naivety, do not seek to reproduce reality, but to capture what it leaves behind: an emotion, an atmosphere, a diffuse nostalgia.
The term ‘stolen’ also conveys the essence of the project: memories borrowed from others, never experienced by the artist, but desired — then recreated, diverted, reinvented through painting.
‘By painting them, I give them a new memory, on the border between reality and imagination.’
Opening: Friday 16 January at 6pm.
