Hortense Belhost draws on the history of France and the history of the arts to tell the story of 1664 with precision and fantasy.
The show borrows from stand-up comedy its rhythm, its direct address to the public and its powerful humor.
Alone on stage, the artist transforms academic knowledge into a living, visual and joyfully impertinent story.
The show goes through a year marked by Versailles, the assertion of royal power, the arts of the 17th century and major political and commercial movements.
Hortense Belhost intertwines history, images, popular culture and personal reflections to make demanding concepts accessible.
The place welcomes people with reduced mobility, whether they use a wheelchair, use a cane or have another accessibility need.
A free image blowing service is offered to people who are blind or partially sighted. A person sitting next to them discreetly describes the important visual elements of the show to them.
The pace of the show, as well as its lights and soft soundscapes, naturally promote a more comfortable experience.
This tour is co-produced with the municipalities of Lacoste, Lauris, Oppède, Oppède, Saignon, Velleron and the Oppède Cultures association.
With 1664, Hortense Beloffre offers a show that makes history accessible without impoverishing it, by combining humor, critical thinking and scenic energy.
A cultural event to approach the 17th century in a different way, between the pleasure of the show and historical curiosity.
