Sommaire

Aubert is a painter who can be classified as part of modern Fauvism, and it is gratifying to see his work attract major French and foreign art lovers who instinctively know what should be collected. He is a sure bet, like his great predecessors who were not understood during their lifetimes. But we are fortunate that Aubert is still alive to see what many of us will never see: the essential.
He has had dozens of exhibitions in France and abroad, including in Paris, Lille, Marseille, Nice, Barcelona, Brussels and New York (invited to Artexpo, the Tauroentum Museum, etc.). His list of achievements speaks for itself. He is often asked to participate in numerous art exhibitions as president of the jury.
André Aubert is a kind and generous man, founder of Arts et Chevalets de Provence, an association created in 1995, which offers artists the opportunity to exhibit their creations in his gallery in Villelaure.
A volunteer at heart, he spends half his time helping his artist friends. All this contributes to an aura that is unanimously recognised by charitable societies for philanthropy and dedication. Among other honours, he has been awarded the French Gold Medal for Devotion, the Paul Cézanne Medal from the city of Aix, the French Silver Medal for Arts and Letters, the Grand Gold Medal for Universal Devotion, and the Vermeil Medal for Arts, Sciences and Letters.
André Aubert was born in Lorraine, in a cradle of Epinal images.
Like the good King René, he set off for Provence at an early age, arriving in Marseille with his parents when he was five years old. He spent his childhood and adolescence in Septèmes les Vallons. From the age of fifteen, he painted everything that caught his eye. He was dazzled by the discovery of a luminous country that opened his eyes and his heart. He was already participating in a few exhibitions.
In 1984, he decided to leave Marseille. He set up his studio in a village between Durance and Luberon. It was during this period that he met Jean-Claude Rey, the storyteller of Luberon. A great friendship developed between the painter and the troubadour, and the magic began.
Immersed in the hills of the Luberon, whose name he now bears, he painted a profusion of Provençal scenes: boules players, Arlésiennes, farandoles, trees tormented by the mistral wind, all appearing under his brush and palette knife.
Each canvas is a whole in which colour unleashes its devastating power: a subject, colours... we understand the artist's message without needing any explanation. He finally arrived at this modern Provençal expressionist painting, which delights collectors tired of frills.
