Bancs Debout: an exhibition that invites you to see art differently

Poster for the Bancs Debout exhibition at the Temple in Puget-sur-Durance

Puget-sur-Durance is taking part in the 2nd edition of the Journées Nationales des Artistes, a nationwide event dedicated to creativity and encounters with artists. Organised by La Maison des Artistes under the patronage of the French Ministry of Culture and in partnership with the Association des maires de France et des présidents d’intercommunalité (AMF), the event takes place throughout France on 2, 3 and 4 October 2026.

For this new edition, the Temple in Puget hosts Bancs Debout, an exhibition dedicated to the visual arts. Paintings, photographs and sculptures, including works from the L’Art en partage art library in Volx, enter into dialogue with creations by artists from the southern Luberon.

The exhibition invites visitors to explore different artistic worlds, discuss the creative process and meet artists through their work, with an approach designed to offer a fresh perspective on art.

At the Temple in Puget, the benches become part of the display

The venue itself is an integral part of the experience. For Bancs Debout, several of the Temple’s wooden benches are set upright to form two openwork structures. The artworks are displayed within this unusual setting, challenging traditional exhibition conventions and encouraging visitors to look at them from a different perspective.

The exhibition features works by Sophie Revault, Lucile Travert, Florence Charmasson, Adeline Dutel and Catherine Tartanac, alongside pieces from the L’Art en partage art library in Volx.

Poetry is also woven into the display: texts by Michel Jean René Crouzet, a poet based in Puget, are suspended throughout the exhibition. Words, forms and images respond to one another as visitors move through the space.
