Starting from Mérindol, follow in the footsteps of Vaudois history and explore the garrigue landscapes of the Petit Luberon. This 7.5 km guided hike takes you past the remains of the old village, the Vaudois memorial, Vallon Bernard and the Font de l’Orme arboretum.
From the village of Mérindol, the trail gradually climbs towards the remains of the old village and its Vaudois memorial.
Set on the slopes of the Petit Luberon, these ruins preserve the memory of the Vaudois community and of a history that has left a lasting mark on the area.
Accompanied by a guide, discover the remains that are still visible today and learn how the site helps preserve and pass on the memory of its former inhabitants. From the higher ground, the trail also offers sweeping views over Mérindol and the Durance Valley.
After exploring the old village, the trail continues towards Vallon Bernard. The path crosses typical Luberon garrigue, home to Mediterranean plants and a wide variety of insects.
This section of the hike is an opportunity to observe the natural landscapes surrounding Mérindol and gain a better understanding of this rich ecosystem, perfectly adapted to heat and dry conditions.
The trail then reaches the Font de l’Orme arboretum. Pines, sequoias and cedars from different parts of the world form an unexpected collection of trees before the walk heads back towards the village.
