Like at home in the heart of the Luberon

"Discover the Luberon, this authentic and preserved but at the same time fragile territory, in a spirit of respect for its environment, its local actors and its inhabitants." Values shared by Elisabeth Blanc, owner of the Maison Magnarelles in Maubec.

An old silkworm farm in the heart of the Luberon Regional Nature Park

Ideally located in Maubec, our guest house, an old Provencal farmhouse from the 18th century, is composed of two gîtes (classified as "Meublé de Tourisme 3*") and two guest rooms (labeled "Chambre d'hôtes Référence"). Formerly an old wine estate, then a silkworm farm dedicated to the breeding of silkworms, which was very common in Provence in the 19th century, our house has been restored with respect to its old stones." Surrounded by vineyards, lavender fields and truffle fields, La Maison Magnarelles has kept the traces of its rich past, its rural character and its authenticity.

"The atmosphere is relaxed but above all warm and cosy, thanks to the careful decoration of our accommodations combining contemporary style and traditional materials. Conviviality is very present thanks to the inner courtyard of the farmhouse, a place of meetings and exchanges that cannot be ignored, especially in the morning during breakfast. What motivates us on a daily basis is to share with our guests, to advise them in the best way possible, while remaining discreet but in a daily attentive listening."

"Also committed to a more responsible tourism and respectful of its environment (we have just obtained the mark "Valeurs Parc" awarded by the Regional Natural Park of Luberon), we multiply the eco-gestures and sensitize our guests in terms of energy saving and waste recycling. Moreover, in order to allow the discovery of our territory other than by car, our house is also labeled "Accueil Vélo". Cyclists and hikers are thus welcome whatever their practices."

The project of a "new life" - Welcome to Maubec !

"Previously an executive in large public transport companies in Aix en Provence, I have always loved decoration and I had in mind for a long time to create a guest house at retirement age. I finally anticipated my professional reconversion a little bit, not finding in my job the values that I had always advocated. This is how the project of a "new life" took shape, how we looked for a house that could accommodate this activity and how we settled in Maubec in 2013."

"The picturesque and peaceful village of Maubec was not a deliberate choice, it is the chance of our research that led us to this beautiful old silkworm farm for which we had a real crush. It took us more than a year to restructure it and carry out the necessary restoration work. Today, the positive and enthusiastic feedback from our guests reinforces our choice and it is a great satisfaction."

Le Luberon : un terrain de jeu pour tous

"The foreign clientele, especially from Northern Europe, seems to be very loyal to the Luberon which, for them, gathers all the assets of Provence on a limited territory. Our cultural and historical heritage, the perched villages, the gastronomy, the rich and still preserved nature, the festivals and the colorful markets constitute, it is certain, the strong points of our destination with an international influence.

"The French clientele, more numerous since 2 seasons, discovers with enthusiasm our beautiful region of the Luberon, and also comes there a lot for the outdoor activities, the visit of the exceptional natural sites and the unforgettable experiences to live there. Let's not forget the lavender, emblematic, which beyond the postcard attracts undoubtedly visitors from around the world."

Some favorite villages ?

"It is Oppède le Vieux which amazes us (still!) in all seasons, which we reach in less than an hour's walk from the house. We can't get enough of our beautiful village of Maubec, a bit unknown but so picturesque (and also stroll in Ménerbes, admire the view on the Calavon plain from Goult, or take a little height in Saumane or Lioux)."

Your little plus,
what do clients appreciate ?

"The charm of the place and of the "old stones" of our house, which has remained in its original state while offering modern comfort for a quiet stay. The quality of the services we offer (comfort of the rooms) and the care given to our breakfasts which give pride of place to local and seasonal products, organic for the most part, and home-made are widely appreciated. The location of our swimming pool in its green setting is also highly appreciated!

What about you?
what do you appreciate in your activity?

"Unquestionably the multiplicity and diversity of the encounters, the richness of the exchanges, sometimes with distant foreigners with whom we establish, during a stay, an almost friendly relationship. Our good knowledge of our territory also allows us to advise our guests as well as possible, often beyond the "must-sees" for which they were attracted by the Luberon, and they are extremely grateful to us."
