Duo Albionnes: a journey through Celtic songs

Poster for the Duo Albionnes Celtic songs concert in Lauris, featuring Carole Winandy and Holly Hinton-Smith.

Based in Avignon, Carole Winandy and Holly Hinton-Smith form Duo Albionnes, a vocal duo exploring the songs and oral traditions of the British Isles and Celtic regions. Their voices intertwine in a repertoire of traditional and modern melodies, sung in Irish, Scottish Gaelic, Welsh, Cornish and English.

Carole Winandy draws inspiration from Occitan and European folk songs, bringing stories and melodies passed down through generations back to life. Holly Hinton-Smith, originally from Britain, explores her musical roots through flute, singing and traditional dance, drawing on folk traditions and modal music.

Together, the two artists bring to life stories of landscapes, legends and island traditions. Through vocal harmonies and polyphony, this concert invites audiences to discover the diversity of Celtic musical cultures.
