Conference: Van Gogh and his friends in Arles, in Lauris

Who were the people around Vincent van Gogh during his stay in Arles? The talk "Van Gogh and his friends in Arles" explores this period of the painter's life and the relationships he formed in the Provençal town.

The speaker is Bernadette Murphy, an art historian renowned for her research into Van Gogh's time in Arles. Her internationally published book Van Gogh's Ear inspired several documentaries broadcast on Arte, the BBC, NHK and PBS. Her findings, validated by the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, have also attracted international media attention.

Organised by the Lauris Cultural Department, this talk offers an opportunity to better understand the people who surrounded Van Gogh in Arles and gain a different perspective on this chapter of his life.
