Christmas shortbread to delight your taste buds, spiced hot chocolate with comforting flavours and creamy eggnog. Get ready for a festive, gourmet family trip!

Christmas shortbread

Ingredients

  • 250g flour
  • 1 sachet vanilla sugar
  • 60g icing sugar
  • 100g softened butter
  • 1 tablespoon single cream
  • 2 egg yolks

Preparation

  • Mix the flour, sugar, vanilla sugar and 1 pinch of salt in a bowl. Make a well and add the egg yolks and cream. Add the softened butter and knead quickly. Mix everything together and form into a ball.

  • Leave to rest in the fridge for 1 hour.

  • To finish. Roll out the pastry to a thickness of 5 mm and use cookie cutter shapes. Preheat the oven to 180°. Bake on a baking tray covered with baking parchment for around 15 minutes. Leave to cool on a wire rack and store in an airtight tin.

Spiced hot chocolate

Ingredients

  • 1/2 litre of milk
  • 1/4 litre liquid or farmhouse cream
  • 150g minimum 60% cocoa chocolate
  • 50g milk chocolate
  • Green anise
  • Cardamom
  • Star anise
  • Cinnamon
  • Pepper
  • Clove
  • Vanilla powder

Preparation

  • Make the spice mix: In a bowl, mix together 1 level teaspoon vanilla powder, 1 level teaspoon green aniseed, 1 level teaspoon cinnamon powder, 2 pinches clove powder, 1/2 teaspoon cardamom, 1/2 teaspoon star anise, 2 turns of the pepper mill - Mix well for about 30 seconds. Weigh out 10g of this mixture - Set the rest aside for later use.

  • Place the milk and cream in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Stop at the first boil.

  • Pour the chocolates into the boiling liquid with the spices - wait 3 minutes. Whisk to froth - serve immediately.

Eggnog

Ingrédients 

  • 25g de sucre
  • 15cl de lait
  • 1 pincée de cannelle
  • 1 pincée de muscade
  • 1 jaune d'oeuf

Preparation

  • Heat the milk in a saucepan with the cinnamon and nutmeg (take care not to boil the mixture).
  • Mix the egg yolk and sugar in your cup.
  • Add the milk to your cup, continuing to stir well.
  • Enjoy!
