Saturday 21 November 2026 from 11 am.
On November 21, 2026 in Lourmarin, La Fruitière Numérique is hosting the conference “Lipids on your plate” with Frédéric Carrière, research director at CNRS. Nutrition, vegetable oils, biomass and biofuels will be at the heart of the discussions.

Lipids are known as an essential source of energy in our diet, but also for the risks associated with their overconsumption. Between nutritional recommendations and the multiplication of oils offered to the consumer, the conference invites us to better understand their place in our daily lives.
With Frédéric Carrière, research director at CNRS, the meeting also explores other uses of oils, in particular their use in the production of biofuels. A question then arises: how to reconcile food, agricultural production and new energy needs?
The conference will discuss research conducted on lipids in the fields of nutrition, oleochemistry and fuels, with an emphasis on the work carried out in particular in Marseille and Cadarache.
Today, lipid research is at the crossroads of several issues. The conference will address in particular:
What place should lipids and various oils be given in our diet?
How can vegetable oils and those derived from microalgae contribute to the production of fuels?
What choices will have to be made tomorrow to share biomass between food, industry and energy?
