On Friday 30 October, the Luberon Lavender Museum turns a museum visit into a family Halloween experience. Mysterious stories, games, sweet treats and creative activities are combined with the discovery of fine lavender from Provence.

During the afternoon, young witches and wizards can join a mischievous frog hunt, make witches’ potions and magical lavender sachets, choose a temporary tattoo and try to discover the mysterious gift hidden in the witches’ chest.

Between activities, the fancy-dress Halloween snack served from 2 pm to 5 pm lets each family enjoy the afternoon at their own pace. Witches, ghosts, vampires, pumpkins and all kinds of fantastic creatures are welcome.

An afternoon for young witches and wizards

Throughout the afternoon, children can move from one Halloween activity to another:

At 11 am and 2 pm, the Museum’s guided tour takes on a different tone. The history of fine lavender in Provence leads visitors through ancient beliefs, distillation practices, epidemics, the plague, miasmas and the famous Four Thieves Vinegar.

Some of the Museum’s most intriguing objects add to this journey combining history, Provençal heritage and Halloween tales. The tour lasts around one hour and is included in the admission ticket.

Behind the potions and witches’ stories, this Halloween day is also an opportunity for families to discover fine lavender from Provence and the heritage connected with it.

Botany, cultivation, harvesting, distillation and a collection of stills tell the story of this emblematic plant and help visitors understand its place in Provençal landscapes and traditional know-how.
