I am writing to you from Cavaillon

Affiche de l’exposition I am writing to you from Cavaillon à l’espace Léon Colombier

The summer exhibition “I am writing to you from Cavaillon” invites the public to rediscover local heritage through the prism of correspondence.

Municipal archives, old postcards, contemporary creations and philatelic collections respond to each other in a sensitive, documented and living journey.

Located at the Espace Léon Colombier, this exhibition offers a dialogue between history, local memory and contemporary artistic vision.

Correspondances Archives & cartes postales anciennes

Cavaillon told through words, images and traces

Through municipal archives and old postcards, the exhibition offers a dive into the memory of Cavaillon.

These fragments of correspondence tell about places, uses, urban landscapes and moments of life. They allow you to look at the city in a different way, through the messages sent, the images preserved and the memories transmitted.

Visitors are invited to follow a sensitive thread between local history, everyday heritage and ancient forms of communication.

Création contemporaine Regards d’artistes

When artists respond to archives

The exhibition creates an unprecedented dialogue between heritage documents and contemporary creations, thanks to a call for artists.

The works presented extend, reinterpret or question the traces of the past, by offering new interpretations of the territory and its imaginations.

This intersection between history and creation reveals a living heritage, capable of inspiring new forms, stories and sensitivities even today.

Parcours interactif Cartes, timbres & expressions provençales

An exhibition to be experienced and shared

The course is intended to be interactive, with an original system of cards redistributed between visitors.

The exhibition also connects Provençal expressions and local philately collections, to explore another facet of correspondence and the identity of the territory.

Between postcards, stamps, words from here and current creations, the visitor composes his own path through the written and visual traces of Cavaillon.
