Terminus! On the way to contemporary architecture
Let’s step off at Cavaillon station and disembark… in the 19th century! Discover the architectural diversity of this period by visiting the station, the former Bitter Africain, and the Caisse d’Epargne. We will then cross a time warp to arrive in the 1970s, the chance to admire Max Bourgoin’s remarkable Groupama building. From the Industrial Revolution to the post-war boom, architecture takes us on a journey through time.
> Meeting point: station forecourt at 10 am
From the Middle Ages to the 18th century: "The Jewish Quarter of Cavaillon"
After a tour of the former synagogue led by a city guide, historian Roselyne Anziani will take visitors along Rue Hébraïque to discover the houses and families who lived there in the 18th century. Drawing on her own research, she will explore the features of Jewish housing and its evolution.
> Meeting point: in front of the former synagogue, Rue Hébraïque at 10 am
Romanesque, did you say Romanesque? Tracing our Romanesque architecture
From our former Cathedral of Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Véran to the Chapel of Vignères, via Saint-Jacques Chapel and the remains of Saint-Pierre Church, Romanesque architecture may be obvious or elusive, adorned with baroque gilding or altered over the centuries. Let’s trace back in time and investigate together.
> Meeting point on site at the times indicated. Carpooling possible.
Antiquity: The Roman Arch, what an influencer!
Discover this ancient monument that shaped the identity of Cavaillon! Between sumptuous decorations and a turbulent history, follow the path of an arch that inspired the city from the Middle Ages to today. A captivating journey into art and urban memory, from the arch itself to its model now exhibited again at the Archaeological Museum.
> Meeting point: in front of the Roman Arch at 2 pm

In the manner of a “Chinese portrait”, the Municipal Archives invite you to see the city in a different way while questioning the notion of heritage. Through buildings and monuments, essential or unexpected, but all markers of history, a “portrait of a city” emerges, composed of places of power or spirituality, as well as places of life, work and exchange. This unique architectural heritage serves as a reference for collective memory and reflects the singularity of our city: Cavaillon.
