On November 8 in Cavaillon, the European Days of Jewish Culture offer a day of meetings around the Judeo-Comtadine heritage, with conferences, exhibition, tasting of unleavened bread and a pot of friendship.

The European Jewish Culture Days offer a time of encounter and transmission around the Jewish history of Cavaillon and the Judeo-Comtadine heritage.
Organized in partnership with the associations Les Amis de la Synagogue de Cavaillon, JECPJ France and AEPJ jewisheritage, this day brings together conferences, exhibitions, tastings and convivial moments.
In particular, the program addresses ketouboth, the issues of marriage among Jews in Cavaillon in the 18th century and the tradition of coudolas, these Provençal matzo breads.
Welcome over a coffee at the Espace Culturel Léon Colombier.
Conference on Jewish religious marriage contracts from the collections of the Comtadin Jewish Museum in Cavaillon, by Angélique Lopez, municipal conservation assistant.
Conference by Roselyne Anziani, historian, author of La Juiverie de l'Isle and La Juiverie de Cavaillon.
Free time before the program resumes in the afternoon.
A meeting around cudolas, Provençal unleavened bread linked to the memory of Jewish Passover and Judeo-Comtadine families.
Tasting of various unleavened bread and a pot of friendship with the association Les Amis de la Synagogue.
For centuries, in memory of the exit from Egypt, Jewish families have been eating unleavened bread for Passover, called “matzah” in Hebrew and “coudola” among Judeo-Comtadins.
This Provençal-sounding term opens up many questions: were these cudolas different from the Matsoth? Why did Frédéric Mistral love them when they are made from flour and water?
The conference and exhibition aim to shed light on this famous Provençal matzo bread, which is still little explored by historians.
As part of the year 2026-2027 “A story of taste”, an exhibition around domes will be visible from November 8, 2026 and until Jewish Passover, Passover, from April 21 to 29, 2027.
It will be presented in the bakery of the former synagogue, rue Hébraïque in Cavaillon.
The exhibition is visible according to the opening conditions of the place, except on Tuesday and Sunday.
