On Friday, April 16, 2027, in Cavaillon, discover La fiancée du scaphandrier, an opera-bouffe in one act, created in 2027, where a love triangle, disguises and misunderstandings lead the characters into a plot that is as eventful as it is satirical.
Alexis, son of the Baroness, is in love with Elisa, a young servant. To be able to meet her without being recognized, he disguises himself as a roadman and breaks rocks on the road where she passes. But his mother disapproves of this relationship and wants a better fit for her son.
The situation is complicated when Julot, Elisa's official fiancé, returns after five years of absence. A traveller who has become a diver, he finds Elisa who is now divided between two suitors, while the Baroness tries to thwart her son's romantic plans.
Costumes, the unexpected return of a missing fiancé, family opposition and romantic rivalry fuel a succession of misunderstandings and burlesque scenes. The characters each try to regain control of a situation that keeps escaping them.
