Stargazing at Boulon during the Night Day

Night Day 2026 in Robion with a walk to Boulon and stargazing

The town of Robion, the French Astronomy Association and 4APL – Les Amis Astronomes Amateurs du Petit Luberon are organising a free evening devoted to stargazing and raising awareness of light pollution. Public lighting in the village will be switched off at nightfall.

From the town hall, a group walk of around 1 km leads to Boulon. At the observation site, several optical and electronic telescopes will be set up by the 4APL team to observe Saturn, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies, depending on sky conditions.

The Night Day is a national event dedicated to light pollution, the protection of nocturnal biodiversity and the starry sky. In Robion, the evening offers a chance to experience what can be revealed when artificial lighting is switched off.

6 to 20 October 2026

An exhibition about the night sky and biodiversity

Alongside the Night Day evening, Saint-Roch Chapel hosts the free exhibition “Songes d’une nuit étoilée & Protection du ciel nocturne et de la biodiversité”.

Made up of 14 educational panels and accompanied by an explanatory booklet, the exhibition explores our relationship with the night and explains how artificial lighting is gradually making the starry sky less visible.

Open to adults and children alike, it also explores the importance of protecting nocturnal biodiversity. The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Saturday during the opening hours of the local postal agency and information point.

Preparing for the stargazing evening at Boulon

The walk to Boulon is around 1 km. This part of the evening is not recommended for very young children.

You can bring a picnic to enjoy before nightfall. Hot drinks and a few snacks will also be offered by the town at the observation site.

The walk and stargazing session depend on weather conditions. In the event of heavy cloud, strong winds or rain, the evening at Boulon will be cancelled.
