The presentations...

"My name is Loïc Paillard, I directed my first film "les étoiles restantes" released in 2018 in the cinema and now I'm releasing my second film on November 09, 2022 "les lendemains de veille" which I wrote at the first confinement and which will be previewed on November 02 at La Cigale in Cavaillon. I started writing this film because I was stuck at home and because I had been a father for some time. I had this desire to talk about friendship through time.

A film between laughter and emotion...

"My film is about a group of thirty-somethings who meet again 10 years after having lost touch with each other. At 20, they had their lives ahead of them and this crazy dream of living together as a family. After two years of living together in a big house, they had each gone their separate ways. But fate finally decided to reunite them when one of them died and left them the house they had lived in... The stories and their past resurface..."

"For most of the actors, we are a real band of friends outside the film. The costume designer is my partner, my son plays in the film, Bérénice and Etienne who play Anne-Sophie and Blaise are also together in life and play with their baby, there are real links. The idea of the film was really to have a somewhat porous border between reality and fiction. To explain the context, we met in Paris: some of us went to the same theatre schools. There was a bar in Montmartre where we used to meet to share our common passion for cinema: we quickly became very friendly."

A lovely anecdote from the shoot...

"I have a wonderful anecdote to tell you! We created a song called "les lendemains de veille" (the day after the night before) which was not originally planned in the film at all. It was Valerian, who plays Mateo in the film, who composed this song during the shooting. It was a bit like our anthem outside of the shoot that we sang between takes. Except that one evening we were shooting a scene with my son who was one and a half years old. He was a bit disturbed, not very concentrated and came a lot towards me who was behind the camera. So I decided to ask Valerian to take the guitar and sing something to attract him. He started to sing our song: my son approaches the guitar and the moment becomes quite magical. All the actors started to improvise around what was happening and so the song ended up finding its place in the film. An unforgettable moment!"

Cavaillon, a place of sunshine and good humour!

"I know the Luberon a little bit, and I particularly appreciate Cavaillon which is a beautiful town. I went there for the first time during the Rencontres Cinématographiques de Cavaillon as a guest a few years ago for my first film "Les Etoiles Restantes". That's where I met Eric Tellène, director of the Cavaillon Cinemas. When I came, the public and the people touched me a lot. I had the impression that the whole town had come to see my film, they were very interested and very happy to be able to talk with me. I have this image of Cavaillon: sunshine, smiles and good humour.

A few words to finish...

"Why go to see my film?

Let me explain: I like films where you laugh and are moved. That's what I tried to convey. I think the gamble has paid off because we are starting to do quite a few previews and the feedback we are getting is in that direction. It's a film that makes you want to celebrate love and friendship afterwards.

I will be present at this preview with some of the actors. We love to share these moments of exchange after the film. We need this "collective" aspect after these years of COVID which have been very striking. We want to get together and see the cinema full again.
We have almost two weeks of previews before the film is released and we are delighted to be able to share more than just a film!"
