A day dedicated to cycling and sustainable mobility

As part of the national Mai à Vélo initiative, LMVélo 2026 returns for its third edition on Saturday, May 30, at Cavaillon train station. Organized by Luberon Monts de Vaucluse in partnership with Vélo Loisir Provence and numerous local partners, this free event open to all highlights sustainable mobility in a friendly and family-oriented atmosphere.

Bike rides, activities, shows, a cycling village and film screenings will punctuate this day dedicated to cycling and discovering the destination in a different way.

Bike convergence from across the region

The day begins with a bike convergence from several towns across the area. Supervised and secured, groups of cyclists ride to Cavaillon in a friendly atmosphere.

All participants will gather at 11:15 am on the forecourt of Cavaillon train station for a convivial moment with a complimentary aperitif.

The cycling village from 10 am to 4 pm

Throughout the day, the Cycling Village welcomes visitors of all ages with a wide range of free activities:

  • Spectacular BMX shows by the Starlight team
  • BMX and scooter initiation sessions
  • Balance bike track for children aged 2 to 5
  • Bike handling course
  • Self-repair workshop
  • Parent-powered carousel
  • Storytelling sessions
  • Information stands and games about cycling and sustainable mobility

Discover Cavaillon by bike

At 2:30 pm, the Destination Luberon Tourist Office invites you to join a guided bike tour of Cavaillon with Thomas Coeurderoy, certified tour guide, and Sandrine Moy, who will supervise the ride.

Starting from Cavaillon train station, this guided ride offers an immersion into the history and heritage of the town. The route takes in several emblematic sites in the historic centre, from the Roman arch to the cathedral and on to the Saint-Julien canal. Along the way, you will discover the major stages in Cavaillon’s development, its ancient, religious and urban heritage, as well as some of its strongest identity markers such as melon-growing and the canal.

Open to everyone, this 1 to 1 hour 15 minute outing is a different way to explore the town’s natural, cultural and heritage treasures.

Spectacular BMX shows

The Starlight Cavaillon team presents three acrobatic BMX shows on ramps and flat ground. Impressive demonstrations not to be missed throughout the day.

Film screening to close the day

At 4:30 pm, a screening of the film "Résilientes" by Les Roses du Sud will take place at the Cavaillon cinema, followed by a discussion about sustainable mobility.

LMVélo is part of a programme taking place throughout the month of May.

Vintage bicycle exhibition in the media libraries

From May 2 to 30, the media libraries of Cavaillon and Oppède will host an exhibition of vintage bicycles accompanied by period accessories. This collection, kindly lent by Lino Lazzerini, a passionate cyclist and collector from Cavaillon, offers an immersion into the history of cycling and the Tour de France.

Free screening at Le Paradiso cinema

Fancy a film screening and discussion on new forms of mobility?

A free screening of Jérôme Zindy’s film “La nouvelle aventure mobile”, followed by a discussion with mobility experts, will take place on Wednesday 6 May at 5.30 pm at the Paradiso cinema in Cavaillon.
