For the European Night of Museums, Cavaillon invites you to enjoy an evening dedicated to discovery, curiosity and heritage. On Saturday 23 May, enjoy free admission to several cultural venues in the town, with a programme combining an artistic visit, heritage discovery and a treasure hunt in the heart of Cavaillon.
From the collections of the archaeological museum to the former synagogue, the Hôtel-Dieu museum and a night-time investigation through the streets of the town, this evening is the perfect opportunity to rediscover Cavaillon in a different way.
As part of the national “La classe, l’œuvre !” programme, Year 5 pupils from Jean Moulin school will present two paintings by Léon Colombier, an artist from Cavaillon born in 1869 and who died in 1960.
Based in Cavaillon from 1916 onwards, Léon Colombier left his mark on the local artistic scene through his work on landscapes and self-portraits. Through this presentation, the pupils become cultural mediators in their own right, sharing their view of two emblematic works: a self-portrait and a landscape.

For the very first time, the Heritage and Museums Department is offering a night-time treasure hunt through Cavaillon.
Organised in partnership with the MJC theatre group and the theatre class from Lycée Ismaël Dauphin, this original trail invites you to discover the town’s emblematic places at nightfall.
From stage to stage and riddle to riddle, an important figure from Cavaillon will welcome you and tell you the story of the town’s foundation. But is this version really the right one? It is up to you to solve the mystery of the city’s origins and find the correct combination to open the Chest of Truth.
Ready to take up the challenge? All participants will receive a reward. The first three winners will be awarded a prize at the town hall at a later date.
