Family property located at the foot of the village of Menerbes, on the northern slope of the Luberon Massif, the Domaine de la Citadelle grows its vines organically.

An emblematic vineyard backed by the northern slopes of the Luberon, the estate is a natural setting where the development of biodiversity and the expressiveness of the terroirs come together.
His meticulous work in the vineyard, combined with respectful vinification and demanding aging, gives birth to authentic wines, faithful reflections of their land.
Between sunny tastings, inspired tables, an exotic garden and a captivating museum, the Domaine de la Citadelle promotes the Provençal art of living.
A story born at the foot of Menerbes
The history of the Domaine de la Citadelle began in 1990, on an 8-hectare farm nestled at the foot of Menerbes, ranked among the Most Beautiful Villages in France.
This is where Yves Rousset-Rouard gives life to the estate, with the desire to create expressive wines, linked to their land and to the Luberon landscape.
At the end of 2022, he handed over the keys to the estate to Valérie and Yannick Panagiotis, two local children who are continuing this adventure with a deep attachment to the land, to living things and to the preservation of this exceptional place.
Terroir & know-how

Resolutely from the Rhône region, the Domaine de la Citadelle now has about 32 hectares spread over 11 locations and more than 70 plots.
Perched up to 300 meters above sea level, its vines aged 15 to 75 years old take root in varied soils: sandy marl, gravelly Miocene sands, silty Miocene sands and calcareous sandstone molasse.
Lulled by the Mistral and refreshed by the proximity of the Luberon, these terroirs are among the freshest in the Rhône Valley, a uniqueness that marks the balance and finesse of the estate's wines.
A mosaic of grape varieties and precise vinification
The estate grows 15 grape varieties. For reds, Syrah is the soul of wines, complemented by Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot depending on the blend and the vintage.
For white people, Roussanne leads the way, often accompanied by Marsanne, Grenache blanc, Rolle and Clairette. Viognier and Chardonnay enrich this beautiful aromatic palette.
In the cellar, gravity work minimizes the use of pumps. Thermoregulated stainless steel tanks, pigeages and pneumatic pressing at low pressure promote the delicate extraction of tannins, color and aromas.
Vats, barrels, foudres, half-muids, concrete eggs and amphorae then make it possible to raise each soil and each grape variety separately, in order to reveal the finest nuances.
Respect the earth, take care of the living
The Domaine de la Citadelle is one of the first domains in Luberon to be certified in Organic Agriculture by Ecocert, as early as 2016. It is also labeled HVE, High Environmental Value.
Agroecology, eco-responsible practices, horse ploughing, plant cover with regenerative seedlings and eco-grazing punctuate the daily life of the vineyard to protect and enrich the soil.
The installation of hives and the restoration of wooded hedges promote the development of biodiversity, in a global approach that connects land, people and wine.
