On April 8, 2027 in Cavaillon, Rébecca Chaillon presented La Parable du Seum, an astrological and astronomical tale that explores science fiction based on Seine-Saint-Denis. Between rituals, beliefs and the imaginary, the show questions the ways of resisting in a world marked by political and climate crises.
With La Parable du Seum, Rébecca Chaillon imagines a community of minority people confronted with a world that has become too violent and too urgent. Seine-Saint-Denis became the starting point for a fiction based on science fiction, beliefs and rituals.
Faced with political and climate disasters, the characters look for ways to resist, come together, and continue to stand up.
The show navigates between awareness, laughter, dreams and the desire to revolt, by making the imaginary a space where other futures can be envisaged.
In this creation, rituals, beliefs, religions and stories become so many ways to form a group and to invent collective forms of resistance.
Rébecca Chaillon uses science fiction to shift the focus on the present and imagine other ways of navigating crises, between political dimensions and poetic power.
The show thus invites us to consider dreams and fiction not as an escape, but as spaces where new ways of being together can be built.
