On January 29, 2027 in Cavaillon, Short Message Service explores our contemporary ways of saying love. Suzanne de Baecque and Joaquim Fossi transform fragments of romantic conversations exchanged by instant messaging into theatrical material.
Suzanne de Baecque and Joaquim Fossi were interested in the new languages of romance. They collected fragments of romantic conversations exchanged via instant messengers and transformed them into theater material.
Behind these sweet, pixelated words, there are very concrete stories: flirtations, relationships, passionate impulses, misunderstandings and separations. Messages from different ages, backgrounds and sexualities gradually make up a constellation of relationships.
Despite the screens and the new communication tools, all these fragments remain crossed by the same desire: to love and to be loved.
What happens to the romantic conversation when it goes through a screen? Short message service observes the words, the silences, the misunderstandings and the statements that are circulating in our messengers today.
By bringing together these very personal exchanges on a stage, the show brings together stories that are different but crossed by the same expectations, the same doubts and the same needs for connection.
