Did you know that it is a small part of the Luberon massif ? This little geological surprise made of limestone is a must-see spot to take in the whole city of Cavaillon as far as Mont Ventoux, the Monts de Vaucluse, the Luberon, the Durance valley, the Alpilles and the Rhône valley! A lookout for the territory! The summit is accessible on foot from the tourist office or by car to the car park on the hill.


The view from the threshing floor of the charming village of Oppède-le-Vieux is sublime. The church and castle dominate the ruins of the old village.
It is one of the favourite places of the Luberon Cœur de Provence team. Why is it so? - The place is calm, peaceful and you feel good! A moment of pure tranquillity guaranteed. To get there, park in the obligatory Ste Cécile car park.

After about 20 minutes on the path, these ruins are full of history and overlook the village of Mérindol and the Durance valley. You will discover some remains of the castrum where the massacre of the Vaudois took place. In the distance, the Sainte Victoire, so close and the Alpilles massif. Behind you, you are already in the Luberon massif where limestone cliffs and garrigue set the tone.

Still in the south of the Luberon massif, east of Mérindol, the terraces of the château have a more village-like and refined atmosphere but also offer an incredible view ! The Durance valley, the Sainte-Victoire mountain and the Alpilles are also in the view, as well as the white garden of the castle with its small shaded areas and a few benches here and there. Park in one of the village car parks and walk towards the castle through the narrow streets.

Because this viewpoint is mythical and we can't write an article without mentioning it! Classified among the most beautiful villages of France, Gordes offers multiple viewpoints on the valley because of its perched position. But the Bel Air rock offers a vertiginous, stunning and unbelievable view which is, every year, the object of numerous and extraordinary photos. It is THE spotlight of our territory! Take a moment to contemplate this Marvellous Provencal perched village, a real postcard.

The Via Ferrata in Cavaillon allows you to enjoy the view for longer. Open to children over 1.30m (1st part) and to sportsmen (2nd part). It is a sport that requires special equipment. Can be rented in the city centre. More information here.
The castle of Lauris cannot be visited but the courtyard of the castle is home to craftsmen to discover when you come to the village. If you come on Monday morning you can also visit the market on the town hall square or on Thursday at the end of the day at the mill.
