Recognized in the trail running community for its friendly and festive atmosphere, the Trail du Grand Luberon is a must-attend event for nature running enthusiasts. Organized in Cabrières-d’Aigues, this race offers the opportunity to discover the wild landscapes of the Grand Luberon on both its northern and southern slopes.
Runners follow technical trails, panoramic ridges and playful single tracks offering spectacular 360° views over the Provençal mountain ranges and sometimes even as far as the Alps.
The event, part of the Trails de Provence challenge, attracts runners of all levels every year, from amateur athletes to experienced trail runners. It also stands out for its strong spirit of solidarity thanks to the participation of the association Dunes d’Espoir, which allows children with disabilities to experience the race in a joëlette.
Participants can choose between two distances, each offering a complete immersion in the landscapes of the massif.
This demanding course offers a true “front and back” crossing of the Grand Luberon between Cabrières-d’Aigues and Auribeau. Runners notably pass by the Mourre Nègre, the highest point of the massif at 1125 metres above sea level.
On the program: sustained climbs, technical trails, playful single tracks on the descents and long ridgelines offering exceptional views over the Luberon.
This more accessible trail is a local loop ideal for discovering the landscapes around Cabrières-d’Aigues. The route includes several emblematic sections, notably the Ravin de l’Escalette and the castle steps.
