Set to music by Handel, Alessandro Scarlatti, Antonio Caldara and Antonio Vivaldi, this Baroque programme gives new intensity to the adventures of Edmond Dantès. An elegant, sensitive and theatrical closing evening.
With The Count of Monte Cristo, an imaginary opera, Rémy Brès-Feuillet revisits the great moments of Alexandre Dumas’ novel and brings them into resonance with the passions of Baroque lyrical music.
Edmond Dantès’ journey becomes a musical fresco: betrayed innocence, prison, rivals, trials, revenge and inner transformation unfold through great opera and oratorio arias.
