Based in Lourmarin for 25 years, Jean-Michel Espinasse is a multi-faceted artist, renowned for his sculptures and paintings that blend tradition with contemporary influences. Born in 1956, he has won over a French and international clientele with works that can now be found all over the world.
His studio-gallery, located in the heart of the famous village of Lourmarin, is a place where art comes to life, a place where people meet and exchange ideas, where he exhibits his creations and shares his artistic vision.
He studied art history, drawing, design and metal techniques.
He discovered Surrealism, Art Nouveau and Art Deco in Paris.
Training at the Beaux-Arts de Toulouse, which was to be decisive in his artistic approach, nourished by art-house cinema, classical music and world music.
Director of the Centre d'Art de Brétigny-sur-Orge in the 80s and 90s, affirming his commitment to the artistic scene.
Jean-Michel Espinasse places great emphasis on drawing and sculpture, working in both wood and metal to create powerful, expressive works. His sculptures explore the relationship between full and empty, shadow and light, offering a sensitive and contemporary approach to volume.
