✔ Distance: 7.9 km
✔ Waymarking: GR® 9 / Yellow PR
Accessible all year round, this loop between Vaugines and Cucuron is perfect in spring and autumn, when the orchards are in bloom or the foliage displays its most beautiful colours.
In summer, opt for an early morning start to avoid the heat and take advantage of the shade provided by hedgerows and woodland. Don’t forget to bring enough water and check the daily forest access conditions, which may be restricted depending on the fire risk level.

From the narrow streets of Vaugines, this 7.9 km loop leads you through the agricultural and wooded landscapes of the southern Luberon. The path quickly escapes between vineyards, dry-stone walls and neatly aligned cherry trees, shaping a bright and open beginning across the local farmland.
The route then climbs towards the wooded edges heading to Cucuron. After a cautious crossing of the D56, the trail enters the village from the north, passing by the Font de Ville area. With its old houses, lively alleys and the pond lined with century-old plane trees, Cucuron naturally invites you to take a break, where heritage and Provençal charm come together.
The return to Vaugines is made through a mix of small country roads and quiet paths, running along hedgerows, fields and old truffle orchards. After a short uphill section on a dirt track, the final descent loops around the cemetery and village church before peacefully reaching the starting point.
Accessible in every season, this itinerary offers a gentle and authentic immersion in a Luberon shaped by agriculture, history, and a harmonious balance between man and nature.
For more gentle and heritage-rich scenery in the southern Luberon, try the hike "From one château to another" between Lourmarin and Cadenet. This 8 km route links two emblematic villages via agricultural paths lined with olive trees, vineyards and scenic views over the Durance Valley.
Looking for something more demanding and panoramic? Try the trail of the Combe des Cavaliers and Pelat de Buoux. This challenging 20 km loop from Lourmarin leads through ridgelines, forested valleys, rocky slopes and pastoral lands, with spectacular views over the Grand Luberon.
