Wednesday 12 August 2026 between 10 am and 6 pm.
On Wednesday 12 August 2026, the Lavender Museum Luberon celebrates lavender at the height of summer with a full day dedicated to Provençal traditions, harvest and distillation.
This event highlights Provence lavender, its history, its uses and the ancestral techniques that still shape the summer season in the Luberon today.

From 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, the self-guided audio tour of the museum allows visitors to freely explore the collections, historic tools, lavender-growing trades and the full history of fine lavender in Provence. This immersive experience helps visitors better understand the link between the fields, the harvest, distillation and the production of essential oil.
The traditional distillation demonstration, offered from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and again from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm, immerses visitors in the heart of the lavender transformation process. The scents evolve, the distiller’s techniques are revealed and visitors discover each key stage of this emblematic tradition of the Luberon.
Two traditional guided tours are also offered at 11:30 am and 4:00 pm to explore further the history of lavender, its uses from past to present and the Provençal expertise linked to this iconic plant.
A key highlight of the day, the sickle-cutting demonstration allows visitors to discover the traditional manual harvesting of lavender as it was done in the past. Visitors observe the techniques, understand the cutting methods and appreciate the importance of this expertise in the history of lavender in Provence.
At the end of this activity, everyone leaves with a freshly cut bouquet of lavandin. Two demonstrations are offered from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
Several discovery workshops are available throughout the day with the admission ticket, except for those led by external facilitators.

The sensory workshop, offered from 10:00 am to 11:30 am and again from 2:00 pm to 3:15 pm, invites visitors to recognise the typical scents of Provence, compare fragrances and understand the link between cultivation, harvest and perfumery.
From 10:30 am to 5:00 pm, children can take part in the lavender sachet workshop to create their own scented item to take home. A simple, fun and family-friendly activity.
From 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, the lavender wand workshop with Patricia Bagnoli allows visitors to learn the art of traditional weaving and leave with a fragrant creation. This activity is available for a €10 participation fee.
The scented watercolour workshop, led by Nathalie Maire, takes place from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with sessions at 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm, 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm. This original artistic activity combines painting with the scents of lavender and is available for a €5 participation fee.
Finally, an ice cream vendor will be present in the museum courtyard throughout the day, offering original flavours such as fine lavender, thyme, rose, rosemary and melon.
An ideal gourmet break between activities to fully enjoy this festive day in the heart of the Luberon, in a summery and fragrant atmosphere.
