Discover lavender →Founded in 1991 by Georges Lincelé, a specialist in AOP fine lavender, the Lavender Museum was created with a clear ambition: to preserve and pass on the art of true Provence lavender. Located in the heart of the Luberon, it showcases a rare, living heritage deeply rooted in regional history.

The museum is housed in a beautiful Provençal stone residence, surrounded by a Mediterranean garden where lavandin and olive trees grow side by side. This elegant setting displays a remarkable collection of 346 pieces dedicated to lavender growing, distillation and perfumery.
Through these objects, an entire heritage comes to life. Stills, bottles, traditional tools and collection items tell the story of the techniques, uses and passion of generations of producers devoted to Provence lavender.
The museum promotes a cultural, sensory and educational approach, guided by one common thread: to protect and enhance the heritage of true Provence lavender.

A botanical icon of Provence, lavender has shaped the region since the 19th century. The Lavender Museum highlights this precious flower, its uses and its role in the agricultural, sensory and cultural history of the region.
The visitor route offers a deeper understanding of the role of fine lavender in high perfumery, as well as its importance in aromatherapy. Thanks to a carefully designed exhibition and the commitment of the teams led by the Lincelé family, the visit appeals equally to curious visitors and enthusiasts.
Producers and distillers since 1890 at the Le Château du Bois lavender estate, members of the Lincelé family share here an authentic and demanding lavender culture, deeply rooted in tradition.
The passion of the guides and staff gives the visit a particularly human dimension, in a place designed as a bridge between living heritage and discovery.
The Lavender Museum offers several discovery formats to explore the world of fine lavender from different perspectives. Self-guided audio tours, summer demonstrations, creative or sensory workshops, family activities and exclusive events take place throughout the year.

The traditional tour invites visitors to discover the history of fine Provence lavender through a self-guided audio experience accessible to all. Botanical explanations, a documentary film and collections of stills, bottles and perfumery objects help visitors better understand the cultivation, harvest and distillation of this iconic plant.
This tour provides the ideal foundation to explore the museum and grasp the importance of lavender in Provençal landscapes, expertise and lifestyle.
Duration of the traditional tour: approximately 1 hour.

From early July to late August, Monday to Friday, the Lavender Museum Luberon offers in its gardens a traditional distillation demonstration using an authentic open-fire still.
Visitors discover how steam is used to extract the precious lavender essence: essential oil. Guided by the distiller’s explanations, they follow each step of the process and observe the separation of essential oil and floral water in the Florentine flask.
Activity duration: 25 to 30 minutes.
Total museum visit duration: approximately 1 hour.

Young and old alike can find a sensitive and enjoyable way to explore the world of fine lavender. The museum has designed a varied programme to share this heritage in a lively, intuitive and accessible way.
Children receive special attention thanks to adapted educational tools: quizzes, digital activities, animations and workshops allow them to learn while having fun. Lavender thus becomes a field of discovery that is sensory, botanical and creative.
Throughout the year, themed visits, workshops and immersive events enhance the experience. The museum promotes a warm, family-friendly and committed approach, true to its identity.
The Lavender Museum is more than just its collections. It also offers several complementary spaces that extend the visit and invite visitors to experience lavender in different ways, combining relaxation, learning and sensory discovery.

The products on offer come from the production of the Le Château du Bois lavender estate, owned by the Lincelé family. For five generations, this family of producers and distillers of fine lavender in Haute-Provence has ensured full traceability, from seed to essential oil, using sustainable farming methods.
The brand Le Château du Bois Provence® showcases fine lavender through a range of phyto-cosmetic products, perfumes and creations inspired by the benefits of true Provence lavender, lavandula officinalis Chaix.
The shop area is designed to encourage testing, advice and sensory discovery. Visitors can explore textures, plant-based ingredients and fragrances, and depending on the season, enjoy lavender herbal tea, lavender iced tea or a lavender-flavoured soda.
Also worth discovering: the museum’s online shop, to extend the experience after your visit.

Today, the Lavender Museum remains a family-run business, human-sized and committed to maintaining a close relationship with its visitors. This dimension gives the place a sincere, warm and deeply authentic atmosphere.
Environmental concerns and the preservation of true Provence lavender remain at the heart of the project. The museum promotes a committed vision based on transmission, quality, sustainability and respect for a living heritage.
