Musée de la Lavande, 276 Route de Gordes - D 2, 84220, Cabrières-d'Avignon
Wednesday 5 August 2026 between 10 am and 6 pm.
On Wednesday 5 August 2026, the Lavender Museum Luberon celebrates the most emblematic time of summer: the lavender harvest and distillation season.
This special day invites young and old alike to discover the traditional techniques, the scents of Provence and the expertise that shape the identity of the region, in the heart of the Luberon.

From 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, the self-guided audio tour of the museum allows visitors to freely discover the history of lavender, old tools, lavender-growing trades and the importance of fine lavender in the landscape of the Luberon.
The traditional distillation demonstration, offered from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and again from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm, provides a vivid immersion into the transformation of lavender into essential oil. Visitors can observe the traditional techniques, follow the distiller’s explanations and discover one of Provence’s emblematic traditions.
Two traditional guided tours are also offered from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm for a deeper understanding of the history of fine lavender, distillation and its uses from past to present.
A highlight of this harvest celebration, visitors can watch a manual sickle-cutting demonstration, just as in the past. This moment offers insight into ancestral techniques, traditional cutting methods and the importance of the harvest in the lavender cycle.
At the end of the demonstration, each visitor leaves with a freshly cut bouquet of lavandin. An authentic, fragrant and family-friendly experience, offered from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm and again from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
Numerous discovery workshops are offered throughout the day. For the occasion, they are included with the admission ticket, except for workshops led by external facilitators.

The sensory workshop, offered from 10:00 am to 11:30 am and again from 2:00 pm to 3:15 pm, invites visitors to recognise the scents of Provence, compare fragrances and gain a better understanding of the link between cultivation, harvest and distillation.
From 10:30 am to 5:00 pm, children can take part in a lavender sachet workshop. Younger visitors create their own scented sachet to take home, with the help of the museum team.
From 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, the lavender wand workshop with Patricia Bagnoli offers visitors the chance to learn the traditional art of lavender weaving and leave with a fragrant creation. This activity is available for a €10 participation fee.
The scented watercolour workshop, led by Nathalie Maire, takes place from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with sessions at 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm, 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm. This original artistic activity explores the colours and scents of lavender and is available for a €5 participation fee.
To round off this festive day, an ice cream vendor will be serving in the museum courtyard from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Fine lavender, thyme, rose, rosemary, melon and other original flavours accompany the visit and offer a refreshing break between activities.
A wonderful way to enjoy the summer atmosphere of the Luberon with family or friends, surrounded by the scents and craftsmanship of Provence.
