On Christmas Eve, Pierre and Thérèse are staffing a telephone helpline for the SOS Détresse Amitié charity. The two volunteers are preparing to help people experiencing loneliness and distress, but their evening is not going to unfold as planned.
The overbearing Monsieur Preskovitch, the unlikely and explosive couple Josette and Félix, and the heartbroken Katia gradually turn the helpline office into complete chaos. Unexpected visitors, misunderstandings and absurd situations follow one another at a frantic pace.
