Dry stone borie along the Garrigues trail in Beaumettes

Starting from the village of Beaumettes, this 4.6 km loop takes you into the heart of the Provençal garrigue. Easy and accessible, it winds between pine forests and oak groves, offering an immersion in a typical Luberon landscape.

Right from the first steps, the trail passes along paths bordered by dry stone walls and ancient agricultural terraces, remnants of the work of former farmers. The route follows gentle tracks, alternating between shaded woodlands and more open sections, with beautiful views over the Calavon Valley, the village of Beaumettes, and the northern slopes of the Petit Luberon.

The walk also has botanical interest with varied Mediterranean flora: Aleppo pines, holm oaks, orchids in spring, as well as thyme, rosemary and other fragrant plants typical of the garrigue. Along the way, visitors can enjoy the sounds of birdsong and, with a little luck, spot butterflies or insects characteristic of this environment.

This family-friendly, short and pleasant walk highlights the garrigue in all its diversity. It offers a great introduction to the landscapes and rural heritage of the Luberon, ideal for a relaxing and enriching nature outing.

When to go?

The Garrigues walk is accessible all year round. In spring, the flora is abundant (orchids, thyme, rosemary), while in autumn, the garrigue glows with beautiful colors.
In summer, plan an early start and bring water, as some sections are very sunny with little shade.
Before your outing, check the forest access conditions, regulated in summer due to fire risk.
