Every summer, Cavaillon celebrates its iconic local product with Melon en Fête, a major festive event combining gastronomy, Provençal traditions and entertainment in the heart of the town.
The 2026 edition took place on 3 and 4 July, celebrating the Cavaillon melon, a gourmet emblem of the region now recognised by a PGI.
Markets, a live concert, Roussataïo, a grand banquet, cooking demonstrations, games, parades and Provençal entertainment brought two days of festivities to the town centre.

Much more than a summer fruit, the Cavaillon melon is a true emblem of Provençal terroir. Its sweet flesh, distinctive fragrance and refreshing taste make it one of the stars of the season and a source of pride for the region.
Grown between the Durance and the Luberon, it has been closely linked to the town’s history for centuries, celebrated on prestigious tables and now recognised by a PGI, guaranteeing its origin and quality.
Melon en Fête pays tribute to this gourmet heritage, passionately cultivated by local producers. A living tradition to discover and enjoy.
Two days of festivities brought Cavaillon to life around the melon, gastronomy and Provençal traditions.
Tourist Office car park, former Jewish cemetery
The opening evening featured induction ceremonies into the Confrérie du Melon, a public aperitif offered by the Town of Cavaillon and the distribution of bandanas.
Cours Gambetta
Artisans, designers, gourmet treats and gift ideas brought Cours Gambetta to life in a lively summer atmosphere.
Cours Gambetta, Place de l’Étoile
Cocktail de Nuit brought the town centre to life with a large-scale music and dance show featuring singers, musicians and popular classics.
Place du Clos
Nearly 30 stalls brought together melon growers and local producers throughout the day.
9 am to 5 pm: giant treasure hunt • 9 am to 6 pm: wooden games • 9 am to 12 noon: melon cooking demonstrations and tastings • 10 am to 12 noon and 3 pm to 6 pm: horse-drawn carriage rides • 10:30 am: grand parade • 3 pm: cooking demonstration by Emma Obadina, peña and brass band • 4 pm: Provençal dances and flag throwing • 5 pm: giant treasure hunt draw.
Place Tourel
Up to 500 guests gathered for a convivial dinner featuring a menu created around the Cavaillon melon by several local restaurants.
Starts and finishes at Place du Clos
Around one hundred free-running horses made their way through the streets of the town centre in one of the festival’s most spectacular highlights.
10:30 pm: the celebrations continued with a DJ evening at Place Tourel.
