Located near the village of Lauris, in the heart of the Luberon Regional Natural Park, the Domaine de MasLauris is located on one of the beautiful terroirs of the Luberon appellation.
The estate is located between the Luberon Massif and the Durance, in the southernmost part of the Rhône Valley. From the estate, the panorama extends from Mourre Nègre to the Pays d'Aix-en-Provence and Sainte-Victoire.
Here, the wines are fine, racy and deeply rooted in their land. The estate works in harmony with its environment, combining traditional know-how and modern winemaking techniques.
During the Sunsets Vignerons, MasLauris invites you to discover its cellar, its cuvees and its commitment to demanding organic viticulture.
A family history looking to the future
In 2011, Didier Théophile and Margeaux Lampley Théophile realized one of their big dreams: to build their own winery in the Luberon, with the support of the consulting oenologist Michel Tardieu.
This former farmhouse from the Vaud period seduces the owners at first sight. The old vines are uprooted, then the soil is left to rest in order to promote the renewal of biodiversity. This is when organic certification is requested.
In 2014, the estate surrounded itself with professionals from the region, including the winemaker Aurélien Le Tellier. After thorough soil analyses, the plots are planted according to the grape varieties and the nature of the soil.
Today, Margeaux and Chiara Théophile, alongside Aurélien Le Tellier, are continuing the adventure in the continuity of the commitment carried out by Didier Théophile, with the desire to ensure its sustainability and to open new horizons.
Terroir & know-how
The Domaine de MasLauris is now composed of twelve hectares of certified organic vines, located at about 300 meters above sea level.
Six red grape varieties and four white grape varieties are carefully cultivated. Harvesting is exclusively manual, starting at 4 am with a headlamp, in order to preserve the quality of the grapes.
The production consists of ten AOP Luberon cuvees: four reds, three whites and three rosés. The wines respect each vintage and express the uniqueness of their land.
A cellar designed to respect the material
The Domaine de MasLauris combines traditional know-how and modern winemaking techniques. The construction of the gravity cellar began in 2014, in a desire to work the grapes with precision and respect.
For the production of red wines, the estate uses natural concrete tanks in particular, adapted to the search for balance, finesse and expression of the land.
During Sunsets Vignerons evenings, a visit to the cellar allows you to better understand these vinification choices and the meticulous work carried out on each cuvée.
