As part of the 43rd edition of the European Heritage Days, the Heritage, Museums and Municipal Archives services are offering a program around the theme: Heritage in danger: Reviving, Resisting, Reimagining.

This guided tour invites you to follow in the footsteps of the Pope's Jews and to better understand the unique history of the Judeo-Comtadins in Cavaillon.

Accompanied by Anne De-Haro, visitors will discover Hebrew Street, the ancient synagogue and the treasures preserved in the Grand Couvent Chapel.

In the heart of the former Cavaillon quarry

The tour starts on Rue Hébraïque, in the former “quarry” of the Jews of Cavaillon, an emblematic place in this local history.

Anne De-Haro will tell the story of the Pope's Jews there, before rediscovering the ancient synagogue of Cavaillon.

A journey to better understand the place of this community, its history and the heritage traces that are still visible today.

After visiting Hebrew Street and the ancient synagogue, the tour continues to the Grand Couvent Chapel.

Visitors will be able to discover the hidden treasures of the ancient synagogue, presented in an exhibition dedicated to the daily and religious life of the Pope's Jews.

This time of discovery extends the visit and reveals objects that bear witness to the particular history of Comtat Venaissin.
