One hundred years of art at Château de Lourmarin - Exhibition

The year 2026 marks an exceptional moment in the history of the Château de Lourmarin: the centenary of the Fondation de Lourmarin Laurent-Vibert. Established in 1926 following the donation of the château to the Académie d’Aix by Robert Laurent-Vibert, the Foundation has, for a century, upheld a clear ambition: to make the château a vibrant place dedicated to artistic creation and interdisciplinary exchange.

Since the 1920s, more than 600 artists, musicians, writers and researchers have taken part in residencies in Lourmarin, in the spirit of a “little Villa Medici of Provence.” To celebrate this milestone, the Château de Lourmarin presents an exceptional exhibition retracing one hundred years of artistic creation.

Through a selection of works by 30 artists, the exhibition highlights the diversity of artistic movements from the 20th century to the present day. Paintings, sculptures, engravings and photographs interact throughout the exhibition, revealing the inspiration that the château and the Luberon have sparked in these creators.

This exhibition is part of a rich anniversary programme running throughout the year, including concerts, conferences, screenings and publications. An invitation to discover a place where heritage and artistic creation have come together for over a century.
