Cave de Bonnieux

The Bonnieux winery, created in 1920 by a few winegrowers determined to pool their production resources, was the first in the Vaucluse department. This adventure continues, enriched by its experience.

Cave de Bonnieux

Our cellar has the particularity of being able to offer you its 2 appellations "A.O.P. Luberon" and "A.O.P. Ventoux" produced on different terroirs, giving each wine typicity and character drawn from the depths of its roots.

Located in the heart of the Luberon Regional Natural Park, the winery respects its environment, having installed an independent wine effluent treatment plant in 1996, guaranteeing no polluting discharge into the natural environment. Similarly, the winegrowers are committed to the integrated management of the vineyard, thus preserving the harmony and balance of the environment.

The privileged location of the Bonnieux winery's vineyards, between Haute Provence and the Rhone Valley, allows it to benefit from varied conditions in terms of both soil and exposure. The vines alternate harmoniously with cherry and olive trees. Its territory extends over Bonnieux and some neighbouring communes (Goult, Roussillon, Lacoste, Gordes) on either side of the Calavon, a peaceful tributary of the Durance.

To the north lies the Ventoux A.O.P. area with its alternating hills with more or less gentle slopes. The soils here are varied with the characteristic ochre-coloured sands around Roussillon. The vineyards also enjoy the south-facing slopes on grey Gargassian marl (clay-limestone). To the south, the hillside is the preferred area for the Luberon A.O.P. area. Although there are a few ochre veneers, clay and sandy soils, often in the form of terraces, predominate. They come from the erosion of the cliffs of Lacoste (and its famous stone) or the Claparèdes plateau, kingdom of lavender and truffle oaks, just behind Bonnieux. It is this variety, combined with the careful work of the winegrower, that allows the expression so characteristic of our wines.

The whites and rosés are vinified at low temperature after settling the must and skin maceration, depending on the grape variety and the health of the grapes. The reds are made using traditional vinification methods, with maceration lasting varying lengths of time depending on the product required. Some of our wines are then aged for several months in our barrel cellar. Located in the heart of the cellar, this cellar allows us to have an almost constant temperature throughout the year, guaranteeing optimum maturation. You can get a glimpse of it from the shop.
