The Château de Lourmarin welcomes “Inventory before disappearance”, a distinctive cine-mix based on the travel films of Albert Kahn, a banker and philanthropist devoted to preserving the memory of the world.
Filmed between 1909 and 1929, these archive images offer a rare testimony to landscapes, peoples, gestures and ways of life captured at the beginning of the 20th century.
Set to music by Laurent Garnier, a major figure on the electronic music scene, these projections become an immersive experience, blending cinema, sound creation and visual heritage.
With “Inventory before disappearance”, Albert Kahn’s travel films take on a new resonance. These early images, both documentary and poetic, form a fragile inventory of the world as it appeared at the beginning of the 20th century.
The music created by Laurent Garnier accompanies the images, extends them and gives them a contemporary interpretation. Sound becomes a sensitive thread, between contemplation, tension, memory and inner journey.
Presented on the terraces of the Château de Lourmarin, this event offers a rare experience at the crossroads of archive cinema, live music and the history of images.
