The Château de Lourmarin welcomes Shicong Li on cello and Duru Erdoğan on piano for a duo concert as part of the Summer Music Festival programme.
Both artists-in-residence, selected by the Gautier Capuçon Foundation, the performers offer an evening of chamber music around Fauré, Brahms and Schumann.
In the heritage setting of the château, cello and piano engage in a dialogue of warm timbres, expressive depth and Romantic momentum.
This concert celebrates the encounter between the cello and the piano, two instruments capable of creating a richly expressive musical dialogue. The cello’s singing lines respond to the harmonic depth of the piano, in a subtle balance of listening, breath and intensity.
With Fauré, the evening opens with the elegance and refinement of French music. Brahms then brings a more inward density, full of warmth, depth and restrained lyricism.
Schumann’s world completes this Romantic journey, with expressive, contrasting and deeply poetic writing. An ideal programme to appreciate the full richness of chamber music at the Château de Lourmarin.

Chamber music takes its name from concerts once performed in salons or more intimate spaces than large concert halls. It highlights the listening between performers, the subtlety of musical dialogue and closeness with the audience.
The concert begins at 9 pm. Doors open from 8 pm, allowing audiences to enjoy the terraces of the Château de Lourmarin and share a picnic before the recital.
