In L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, the Villa Datris Foundation is an essential cultural place for lovers of contemporary art. Dedicated to contemporary sculpture, each year it hosts thematic exhibitions that highlight nationally and internationally renowned artists.
Created by Danièle Marcovici and Tristan Fourtine, the foundation aims to make sculpture accessible to as many people as possible. Since its opening in 2011, it has welcomed hundreds of artists and attracted a large audience who came to discover unique works in a setting that is both heritage and inspiring.
Between artistic discovery, dialogue between materials and the staging of works, a visit to Villa Datris offers a sensitive immersion in contemporary creation, in the heart of one of the most emblematic villages in Provence.
Located in an elegant 19th century Provençal residence, the Villa Datris Foundation deploys its exhibitions on more than 500 m² spread over four levels. Inside and out, the visit itinerary fully enhances the volumes, materials and presence of the works.

The charm of the place is also due to its sculpture garden, located on the banks of the Sorgue. This outdoor walk extends the visiting experience and invites you to discover the works from another angle, in a permanent dialogue with light, water and vegetation.
Villa Datris is thus distinguished by its intimate atmosphere, conducive to contemplation as well as to curiosity. Each room, each level and each outdoor space participate in a gradual discovery of contemporary sculpture, in a cultural setting that is particularly pleasant to explore.
Visiting this place is as much about discovering a demanding artistic program as enjoying a unique site, between heritage, creation and the Provençal way of life.

The Villa Datris Foundation Collection brings together the works acquired since the creation of the foundation. It brings together sculptures with various forms, techniques and materials, made by emerging artists as well as by major figures of the contemporary scene.
This diversity is what makes the place so rich. Metal, glass, textile, ceramic, wood, wood, resin or composite materials, each work explores in its own way the plastic freedom of contemporary sculpture and the plurality of artistic writings of today.
The Villa Datris Foundation bookshop-boutique also allows you to extend the visit thanks to a selection of books and exhibition catalogs, true traces of the artistic memory of the place.
It is a great way to keep a memory of the visit, to deepen an exhibition or to discover the world of contemporary sculpture in a different way.
With the exhibition Mediterranean: Contemporary Odysseys, the Villa Datris Foundation offers a sensitive and committed dive into the heart of this mythical sea, through the mixed perspectives of 74 artists from 20 countries. A crossroads of civilizations, the Mediterranean appears as a space for memory, circulation, transmission and dialogue between cultures.

Throughout the course, the works dialogue with Mediterranean history, civilizations and traditions. They also question the major contemporary issues that cross this common space, such as climate change, social issues, migrations, exile, the fragility of human balances and the mechanisms of exclusion or collective oblivion.
Committed, poetic or sometimes humorous, the creations presented also evoke the transmission of knowledge, languages, songs, everyday gestures and ancestral practices. This exhibition thus invites us to think of the Mediterranean as a shared territory, where cultures intersect, respond to and enrich each other in a world in perpetual evolution.
At the end of the visit, the tour extends into the Foundation's Mediterranean garden, with an invitation to leave a message on the wish tree, as a personal trace of this artistic journey.
An exhibition to discover in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue to take a contemporary look at the Mediterranean, between common heritages, sensitive stories and today's questions.
