Just 18 kilometers from Avignon, in Le Thor, the Thouzon Caves are the only natural cave in Provence developed for tourism.
Discovered in 1902 during the operation of a quarry, the cave was immediately preserved, allowing visitors today to admire an intact natural site.
The tour follows the fossilized bed of an ancient underground river, where water has shaped remarkable galleries and mineral formations.
The guided visit offers an opportunity to explore a unique geological environment, a true testimony to the Earth's ancient history.
Today, the Thouzon Cave is recognized as a natural ecomuseum – a valuable "library" of the planet's geological and biological past.
On-site facilities include a gift shop, a snack bar, a refreshment area, and a shaded picnic area to enjoy a relaxing break after your visit. Free parking is also available.
An ideal destination for a family outing, a refreshing break, and a unique way to discover the natural heritage of the region.
