The Col de Gordes trail is accessible all year round, but the best seasons are spring and autumn. The light is particularly beautiful, temperatures are pleasant, and the vegetation is either in full bloom or glowing with warm fall colors.
In summer, it’s best to set off early in the morning to avoid the heat and don’t forget to check the access conditions to forest areas.

Looking for an easy hike around Gordes? The Col de Gordes offers an accessible trail with stunning views of the Vaucluse Mountains, the Luberon Valley and the hilltop village of Gordes. An ideal walk to discover the natural and stone-built heritage of the Luberon.
The hike starts from the center of Gordes, near the castle. Quickly, the path leads you away from the streets toward the first dry stone walls and the typical Luberon scrubland.
Along the way, the hike reveals a discreet yet remarkable heritage: a Romanesque-style oratory, several vaulted dry stone huts, and limestone outcrops shaped by time. If you look closely, you might even spot fossil traces embedded in the rock. The path winds between light and shade, through an authentic Mediterranean garrigue.
The return route leads through a green, gently sloping valley. The loop gently brings you back to the starting point, with a final reward: a breathtaking view of Gordes from the Bel-Air Rock viewpoint. The perfect spot for a photo break or simply to enjoy the scenery.
