Equipped with binoculars and thanks to the educational panel, hidden in a hut, you will discover the fauna and flora in its natural environment, in its wild state. Free access at all times.
The retained part of the Durance valley development plays an essential role in the communication between the Alps and Provence. This rare aquatic environment is of exceptional ecological wealth and is home to some 243 species of birds.
The diversity of the environment present, such as reedbeds, pebble beaches, mudflats, or riparian forests are all habitats for the different species to be observed nesting in the Durance.
The Durance constitutes a migratory corridor for numerous species such as the osprey, the purple heron, the great cormorant and many others.
The hydroelectric reservoir is therefore an excellent place to observe the birdlife.
The best conditions for observation are in January/February and April/May, in the morning due to the south-facing position of the observatory.
