His book House of Bondage, published in 1967 when he was only 27, led him into exile in New York and Europe for the rest of his life.
In this documentary, Raoul Peck retraces his wanderings, his struggles and the power of a major photographic body of work.
Ernest Cole’s photographs showed the world the violence of apartheid and the daily reality of those who endured it.
The publication of House of Bondage transformed his life, forcing him to live far from his country, between New York and Europe.
