Célia Oneto Bensaid, pianist, for a piano recital at the Château de Lourmarin

The Château de Lourmarin welcomes pianist Célia Oneto Bensaid for a piano recital as part of the Summer Music Festival programme.

With a programme bringing together Chopin, Philip Glass and Ravel, this evening creates a dialogue between several musical worlds, from Romanticism and contemporary minimalism to film music and Impressionist poetry.

In the heritage setting of the château, audiences are invited to journey through contrasting atmospheres, from the intimacy of the nocturnes to the virtuosic sweep of the great sonata.

A dialogue between Romanticism, minimalism and poetry

The programme brings together the world of Chopin, full of depth, elegance and Romantic momentum, with the hypnotic modernity of Philip Glass. Chopin’s nocturnes and waltzes open up intimate spaces, while Glass’s pieces create a gentle, almost cinematic pulse.

With Truman Sleeps, from the film The Truman Show, followed by The Poet Acts, from the film The Hours, Philip Glass’s music brings a visual and contemplative dimension to the recital.

The evening continues with Ravel’s Pavane pour une infante défunte, before concluding with Chopin’s Sonata No. 3, Op. 58, a major piano work combining lyricism, power and virtuosity.

Did you know?

Ravel’s Pavane pour une infante défunte was first composed for piano, before being orchestrated by the composer a few years later. Its title evokes an ancient dance and an atmosphere of remembrance, more poetic than mournful.
