Duru Erdoğan, pianist-in-residence, for a piano recital at the Château de Lourmarin

The Château de Lourmarin welcomes Duru Erdoğan, pianist-in-residence selected by the Gautier Capuçon Foundation, for a piano recital as part of the Summer Music Festival programme.

With a programme bringing together Beethoven, Prokofiev, Carl Vine and Rachmaninoff, this evening creates a dialogue between classical depth, bold modernity, rhythmic power and Romantic lyricism.

In the heritage setting of the château, audiences are invited to discover a promising pianist-in-residence in a recital marked by intensity and virtuosity.

A recital of intensity, modernity and virtuosity

The programme opens with Beethoven’s Sonata Op. 110 No. 31, a profound work where inwardness, dramatic tension and musical elevation come together. This major piece of the repertoire sets the tone for the evening, both dense and luminous.

The first part continues with Prokofiev’s Sarcasms Op. 17, short, biting and daring pieces that reveal a more incisive, rhythmic and deliberately contrasting piano style.

After the interval, Carl Vine brings a powerful contemporary language with his Sonata No. 1, before Rachmaninoff’s Preludes Op. 23 Nos. 3, 4 and 5, between lyricism, energy and great Romantic breadth.

Did you know?

Prokofiev’s Sarcasms Op. 17 live up to their name: these short pieces play on contrasts, sudden shifts in tone and a sometimes biting energy. They reveal a bold and highly expressive side of 20th-century piano music.
