Château de Lourmarin, 2 avenue Laurent Vibert, 84160, Lourmarin
Thursday 13 August 2026 from 9 pm.

The Château de Lourmarin welcomes pianist Gaspard Thomas for a piano recital as part of the Summer Music Festival programme.
With a programme dedicated to Chopin, Liszt and Ravel, this evening celebrates three major sensibilities of the piano repertoire, between Romanticism, expressive power and French refinement.
In the heritage setting of the château, audiences are invited on an intense musical journey, from intimate confidence to virtuosic momentum.
The first part of the concert is entirely dedicated to Chopin. The Polonaise-Fantaisie, Op. 61, the Nocturne in C minor, Op. 48 No. 1, the 3 Mazurkas, Op. 63 and the Scherzo No. 3 in C-sharp minor, Op. 39 form a journey rich in contrasts.
Between elegant forms, expressive depth and more virtuosic impulses, this programme explores several facets of the Romantic piano repertoire.
After the interval, Liszt reveals the full evocative power of the keyboard with Funérailles and Legend No. 1. Ravel’s Sonatine brings the evening to a close with a touch of clarity, finesse and French poetry.
Did you know?
Ravel’s Sonatine was first conceived for a music competition launched by a Parisian magazine in the early 20th century. Ravel later turned it into a complete work in three movements, which has become one of the important pieces in his piano repertoire.
Interval
The recital begins at 9 pm. Doors open from 8 pm, allowing audiences to enjoy the terraces of the Château de Lourmarin and share a picnic before the concert.
An ideal summer interlude combining classical music, heritage and the Luberon art of living.
