The Château de Lourmarin welcomes John Gade, pianist-in-residence, for a piano recital as part of the Summer Music Festival programme.
Dedicated to Chopin and Schubert, this concert brings together two great composers of the Romantic repertoire, between lyricism, expressive intensity and inner depth.
In the heritage setting of the château, this evening invites audiences to listen with sensitivity, carried by the poetry of the piano and the power of great Romantic works.
The first part celebrates Chopin with the Nocturne Op. 48 No. 1 and the Ballade No. 1. Two major works, both intense and expressive, in which the piano reveals the full richness of Romantic lyricism.
Between dramatic tension, poetic freedom and deep nuances, these pieces open up an intimate world, marked by powerful contrasts of emotion.
After the interval, the recital continues with Schubert’s Sonata D. 960. Expansive, luminous and meditative, this final piano sonata by the composer invites a more inward kind of listening, between suspended gentleness and passionate impulses.
